
Francisco García, MD, MPH
Dr. Francisco García is an experienced administrator, highly regarded physician executive and internationally recognized expert in public health emergency preparedness, border health and cervical cancer prevention. With more than twenty years of public health experience, Dr. Garcia is passionate about developing innovative, collaborative, multi-sectoral approaches to the complex challenges to the health and well-being of vulnerable communities. Dr. García currently serves as the Deputy County Administrator for Health & Community Services and Chief Medical Officer for Pima County. In this capacity, his span of control includes the departments of Public Health, Behavioral Health, Community & Workforce Development, Pima County Public Libraries, Environmental Quality, Justice Services, Pima Animal Care Center and the offices of the Emergency Management and the Medical Examiner. This includes more than 1500 employees and $200 million in budget oversight authority. Pima County is a large government jurisdiction approximately the size of the state of New Hampshire that shares the longest border with Mexico of any US county. Pima County is a diverse community of more than a million economically diverse residents and includes two large federally recognized American Indian communities.
